Patuxent Roller Derby (PRD) is one of the newest flat-track roller derby leagues in Maryland. Founder, Tricky Nicky, held PRD's first boot camp in July of 2021 with the help of a few Free State Roller Derby friends. We started with 5 skaters and are continuing to grow into the league we are today. We currently have 60 league members ranging from less than a year to over 10 years of experience! We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
The league’s primary mission is to foster and promote the sport of roller derby through organized local and national competition and community involvement. We are an amateur roller derby league operating in and serving Central Maryland. Our members are strong, motivated individuals who train hard, respect their teammates, and love the sport of roller derby. The league’s committed skaters work to increase their power, speed, and endurance through discipline, hard work, and focus. We strive to create a full-contact sport that inspires others and appeals to fans.
Patuxent Roller Derby (PRD) is a skater-managed, not-for-profit athletic organization committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and supportive community. We believe that everyone involved in our league and attending our events should feel safe, valued, and welcome.
Our mission is to break down barriers to participation, create equal opportunities for all members, and build strong, supportive relationships within our community. We celebrate diversity and are dedicated to addressing past and present inequities with compassion, honesty, and integrity. We strive to ensure that everyone—regardless of age, disability, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status—feels a sense of belonging.
We recognize that this work requires ongoing effort and commitment. When we make mistakes, we will listen, adapt, and learn to continue building a community that inspires and welcomes all who share our passion for roller derby.
